Synertec plays part in Victoria’s water future

 27th October 2011

Synertec is proud to announce the completion of the Maryborough Water Treatment Plant Automation Upgrade for Central Highlands Water.

Beginning in June 2010, this project was involved in the detailed design and construction of electrical and mechanical works associated with control system upgrade. In addition to a PLC control and SCADA system, the Maryborough Water Treatment Plant Automation Upgrade project comprises of detailed design, new switchboards, instrumentation, and mechanical and electrical modifications to chemical dosing systems.

The Synertec team consisted of Automation Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Process Engineers and Construction contractors.  The team included Conrad Coombs, Paul Hackett, Ted Perkins, Russell Clark, Thomas Canty, Priya Srikantharajah, Alireza Atrvash, Hassan Bagherzadeh, Michelle Seraphim, Romila Gomez, Feri Handoyo, Zamm Masnin, Jarrod Moore, Ashish Suthar and Julian Tottman.

“With a delighted client, fully operational plant, and no interruption to the town water supply throughout the project, it may appear that this project was all smooth sailing. The reality was an ongoing list of significant complex challenges. The fact that Synertec has been able to deliver unexpectedly good outcomes within this challenging environment is a testament to the focus and commitment of the employees and contractors. Great job everyone,” said Conrad Coombs, Synertec Project Manager.

“This great outcome would not have been possible without the dedicated efforts of our on site contractors, Clark Engineering (construction management and mechanical works), and Pitcher and Wicks (electrical contractors)” Mr. Coombs said.

Located in Maryborough, Victoria, the upgraded Water Treatment Plant has brought significant cost savings for Central Highlands Water, while increasing its operational efficiency. Quality and taste of the local water supply has also improved.
